Iowa has a very limited medical cannabis program that only allows eligible patients to consume low-THC cannabis preparations. In the state’s medical cannabidiol program, raw cannabis flowers, and other common marijuana forms such as edibles, are not allowed. Therefore, there is no legal sale of these marijuana products in the state. Iowa only licenses one manufacturer (MedPharm Iowa) for the low-THC products sold in the state. To inquire about the cost of the low-THC cannabis preparations on sale in the state, contact MedPharm Iowa at (515)-410-9100 or info@medpharmiowa.com or visit any of the five licensed dispensaries in the state.
The five dispensaries operating in Iowa may accept credit cards for certain orders. These dispensaries sell FDA-approved CBD products. Since these are legal at the federal level, credit card companies are likely to process payments for such products. Cash is accepted for all low-THC orders at all dispensaries in Iowa while some of them also accept debit cards.
Low-THC CBD oil, or Iowa’s approved form of medical marijuana, is subject to sales tax. The current sales tax rate in the state is 6%.
Recreational marijuana is illegal in Iowa.
Iowa does not have a policy or program for offering certain indigent or disadvantaged groups lower prices for their low-THC cannabis products. However, qualified patients can still enjoy some savings on their orders at dispensaries during the sales periods offered at such dispensaries.
